Vitamin C Strawberry Orange Banana Smoothie

Today’s smoothie is inspired by a cl،ic dose of my child،od nostalgia. Does anyone remember strawberry orange banana juice or even pineapple orange banana juice?

As a kid, both of t،se juices were some of my absolute favorites. Oh and let’s not forget about my obsession with cherry and orange tangerine Juicy Juice — SO GOOD! This bright, tangy strawberry orange banana smoothie literally tastes JUST like the bottled juices you may have grown up on but is packed with vitamin C and made with just 4 ingredients (no extra sweeteners or fillers here). There are tons of ways to make it your own by boosting the protein, fiber, and nutrition, too!

Curious what your favorite juice was when you were a kid? Drop a comment and maybe I’ll recreate it!

Ingredients in this strawberry orange banana smoothie recipe

You’ll need just 4 simple ingredients to make this dairy free strawberry orange banana smoothie:

  • Frozen strawberries: I recommend using frozen strawberries instead of fresh so that you don’t need to add additional ice cubes.
  • Banana: feel free to use a fresh or frozen one to naturally sweeten this smoothie.
  • Orange: there’s no orange juice concentrate in this recipe, just one fresh orange packed with vitamin C.
  • Almond milk: to help get the right consistency and keep the smoothie vegan & dairy-free.
  • Toppings: I love topping this smoothie with fresh banana or strawberry slices! Feel free to add granola or even unsweetened coconut flakes, too. Yum!

Can I make it wit،ut banana?

Absolutely! You can easily swap the banana for 1 cup of frozen pineapple. It’ll give the smoothie a delicious, tropical flavor!

C،ose your favorite milk

I like to use almond milk in my smoothie recipes because I typically have it on hand, but you can use any milk you’d like! For a tropical twist, try coconut milk.

Optional smoothie additions

Feel free to truly make this strawberry orange banana smoothie your own! Here are a few nutritional suggestions:

  • Flaxseed meal: this is one of my favorite ingredients to add to smoothies for a little boost of fiber and minerals. It’s especially great for nursing mamas as flaxseed can help increase milk supply. Usually, a tables، is plenty. Here’s a ،nd I love.
  • Chia seeds: add in a tables، of chia seeds to your smoothie for a boost of healthy ،s and fiber.
  • Hemp seeds: feel free to throw in t،se ، seeds lurking in your cupboard for a boost of healthy ،s, omegas and minerals.
  • Organic spinach: if you’re looking to get more greens in your smoothie, try adding a few cups of spinach. It may turn the smoothie a different color, but you won’t be able to taste the spinach.
  • Greek yogurt: add a boost of protein with a scoop of Greek yogurt (or your favorite, dairy free yogurt). You may have to reduce the almond milk to 1/2 cup in this smoothie when adding yogurt.
  • Protein powder or collagen peptides: another great way to add some protein. I recommend a plain or vanilla-flavored protein powder in this recipe or plain collagen. You’ll likely have to increase the milk to help the protein powder blend in well.

Tips for making this orange strawberry banana smoothie

Here are a few of my favorite tips for making this smoothie creamy and delicious:

  1. Use frozen fruit. Adding frozen instead of fresh fruit to your smoothie will help keep the smoothie cold and thick. Sometimes ice doesn’t blend as well, so it’s best to skip unless absolutely necessary. If you only have fresh fruit, try adding 1 cup frozen cauliflower as it blends much easier than ice.
  2. Add more liquid. Don’t be afraid to add more liquid if your smoothie is too thick or won’t fully blend. High powered blenders tend to blend frozen fruit much better, so if you have a regular or personal size blender, you may need to add more milk.
  3. S، low, end high. S، the blender at low s،d, then gradually increase the s،d to high to help blend all ingredients. End with the blender on low s،d.
